I finished reading this book on 1/27. This book was a much heavier read than what Cane River was for me. It was a disturbing story, but one that needed to be told. I would still recommend this book, for the history lesson alone. I think it is important to try to understand a situation from all sides of the story, and this book has given me better insight into what it must have been like to live as a minority in late 1880's - early 1900's. I think it is awesome that Lalita Tademy has written these books about and for her family...what a wonderful gift for the future generations of her family to have.

I just can't seem to get into this one. Maybe if I had read it when I was pregnant or a new mom I would have enjoyed this book more. I need to get this back to the library actually..it is collecting late fees and I have given myself long enough to get into it and finish it. That just isn't happening.

This book took some time to get through, but it was well written, thought provoking, and an overall good read. I learned lots of great tidbits about gardening and food in general. Some good, some bad, but all worth learning about. If you are interested in eating well, this is a great read.

I FINALLY finished it! It took me a long time to get through this book, probably because it was about a real person and some serious topics...both of which required me to actually THINK when reading. :) Politics are not an interest of mine, but I did find this book interesting and educational. I felt it was an unbiased look into the life of a politician. This book made me realize that rarely is one person to blame for all that goes wrong in a company or organization... I was also able to draw many parallels between my former life working in corporate America, and with how things operate with the government. No wonder all of the B.S. that goes on at work is called "politics".
